Meet our Staff

Age International has teams working in the areas of: influencing & policy; communications; public fundraising; programme funding; and humanitarian & accountability. The senior management team is listed below.

Alison Marshall

Alison joined Age International as CEO in August 2022. In this role she is also part of Age UK’s senior leadership team.

Alison brings over 25 years’ experience in international development. She was previously Managing Director of Sense International, working for and with people with disabilities. Before that she held senior roles at the International Planned Parenthood Federation, UNICEF UK, Bond and CAFOD. Her work on human rights has seen her travel extensively.

Alison is a member of the BBC Charity Appeals Advisory Committee, and the Boards of the Disasters Emergency Committee and the Fairtrade Foundation.

Lucy Billings

Lucy manages Age International’s response and accountability during emergency appeals, acting as the Central Contact Person (CCP) for the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC).

She is responsible for information management, accountability and budget management in relation to all emergency programmes. Lucy has worked in the third sector for over 15 years, with periods of work at Raleigh International, The Foyer Federation and Médecins Sans Frontières.

Ken Bluestone

Ken leads Age International’s policy and influencing work in the UK and internationally on issues affecting older people in lower and middle-income countries.

Ken's team focuses on government relations, parliamentary work, research, and building relationships with stakeholders who have a policy interest in ageing and international development. Ken has worked in policy and influencing for over 25 years with a wide range of NGOs, including: ACORD, CIIR, VSO and The Water Dialogues. He is on the Board of Directors of CommonAge and was previously Chair of the Global Alliance for the Rights of Older People (GAROP).

Caroline Gilchrist

Caroline leads Age International’s Communications and Campaigns team, building a new public campaigning function to work alongside our more established Communications function.

Caroline has worked in the older people’s sector previously, for Age Concern England, Help the Aged and Age UK, driving campaigning against age discrimination. Prior to joining Age International, she led strategic communications on children’s mental health at the Anna Freud Centre. She has also worked for Save the Children, Bond, Carers UK, Become, and Which?.

Tony Hopkins

Tony leads Age International’s Programme Development and Funding team. He oversees Age International’s project contracts and institutional donor relationships, and planning and coordination with country and regional offices across HelpAge International.

Tony has worked in the development sector for over 15 years. Previously, Tony worked for a range of NGOs, including HelpAge International, VSO, Save the Children and Minority Rights Group International.

Esther Neave

Esther leads the Individual Giving Team for Age International. With her team, she is responsible for inspiring individual donors in the UK to support the work of Age International through a range of online and offline communications.

Esther has worked in fundraising for over 15 years first at NSPCC and then more recently, WaterAid.
