Indonesia Tsunami Appeal
On Friday 28th September 2018, a series of devastating earthquakes struck the Indonesian island of Sulawesi – causing a tsunami, displacing over 70,000 people and killing over 1,400 people.
It is estimated that up to 1.5 million people have been affected by the 7.5 magnitude earthquake and tsunami, and up to 200,000 are in need of urgent assistance. These numbers are expected to rise rapidly in the coming days. Please, give now and help provide older people with life-saving aid.
Who is Age International?
Age International is a charity dedicated to the needs and rights of older people in developing countries – we focus on helping older people get the vital services they need in some of the poorest countries around the world.
Age International is also a member of the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC). We specialise in helping older people to survive emergencies just like this one; we have been helping older women and men with age-friendly aid since the 1960s.
Age International is raising money together with the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) for the Indonesia Tsunami Appeal. The DEC is a consortium of 14 aid agencies working together in times of disasters and emergencies. Any income not spent after twelve months after the appeal launch may be allocated to another emergency situation that requires our support.
