These are turbulent times – especially for older people. Your gift will help us support the most vulnerable, at a time when it's needed more than ever.
In 2019/20 – with help from our supporters – over 225,000 older people received better health and care; 183,000 older people received humanitarian aid; and 1.28 million older people received a social pension for the first time. Many millions more benefitted from new or revised government policies that we campaigned for.
We can only continue this work thanks to donations from people like you.
Regular gifts are vital to help us plan long term support for older people and ensure our programmes are sustainable – please consider giving an affordable amount each month.
How will my donation help older people?
Your gift will help older people who lack healthcare, a secure income, support in emergencies or the day-to-day help they need in later life. It will help people who are unable to live life with dignity simply because of their age.
You’ll help us train volunteer carers to visit homebound older people; to improve access to healthcare; and to fund free cataract operations. You'll help us secure pensions for older people; to provide drought-resistant crops; and to campaign for older people’s rights, sometimes across entire countries. And when a disaster strikes, you’ll help us save lives.
How funds are spent
For every £1 spent in 2019/20:
- 52p was on emergency relief
- 37p was on development programmes and support for our global partner, HelpAge
- 8p was on governance
- 3p was on influencing, advocacy and communications
This includes funds received from individuals, institutions and grants.
Your gift will support Age International’s work worldwide where the need is greatest.
About Age International
We specialise in helping older people in some of the world's poorest places, working with in-country partners through a localised approach. We are part of Age UK and we are the UK member of HelpAge, a global network supporting older people in 85 countries.
We support older people to have a better quality of life and fight against the injustices that older people experience, just because of their age. How do we do this? We first of all ensure that older people’s experiences, voices and needs are at the heart of our programmes. We help other charities and organisations to think about older people and include them in their work. And we support campaigns for policies and practices that have the potential to improve millions of older people’s lives.
Our vision is a world in which women and men everywhere can lead dignified, health and secure lives as they grow older.
