Thousands died or were injured. The earthquake left communities that were already struggling in need of shelter, clean water, healthcare, and food.
How your donation could help older people
Your donation today will help older people, and their families, with the tailored help and support they need to recover and rebuild from the earthquake.

U Phyu’s Story
When the earthquake struck, U Phyu, pictured above, was at home with two of his children. The shaking was so intense that his house collapsed to one side, leaving the family living cautiously in a dangerously tilted structure. It was impossible for him to afford the repair work needed.
The cash grant he received was the first help offered after the disaster, and he was deeply moved.
This support has brought him safety, stability and a renewed sense of dignity at a time of great uncertainty, helping him and his children begin to rebuild their lives.
Please donate today, even a small donation could make a huge difference.
Together with the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), Age International is raising money for the Myanmar Earthquake Appeal. The DEC is a consortium of 15 aid charities working together in times of disasters and emergencies. For more information on the DEC and our fellow member agencies, please visit www.dec.org.uk. Any income not spent after twelve months past the end of the appeal may be allocated to another emergency situation that requires our support.
