A legacy gift in action
A kind legacy left by one of our supporters has enabled Age International to fund an incredible programme called ‘Better Health for Older People’.
By working with our local partner, HelpAge Mozambique, older people are no longer deprioritised when waiting for medical treatment at health units in Maputo and Gaza provinces of Mozambique. They are made to feel welcome and their treatment and care is taken seriously.
"Now I feel respected at the local hospital. We used to just arrive and would just wait for goodwill to be treated. Now we know our rights and we can demand that we are the first to be treated. Someone acts as a welcoming point and helps us know where we need to go," an older person from the Ribangua neighbourhood, Mozambique, told us.
